The activities of police institutions of the Russian empire in the fight against political opposition at the turn of the 19th – 20th centuries

The purpose of the article is to study the transformation of provincial and county police institutions in the conditions of the establishment of the political regime of the “3rd of June” Monarchy. The article deals with topical issues of the participation of the general police of the Russian Empire in the fight against political opposition during the systemic crisis of the Russian statehood of the early 20th century. The author formulates a conclusion about the essence of the ongoing transformations in the police of the Russian Empire, and especially the impact of Detective offices. Archival materials describing the activities of the ranks of the general police in Orel province are given. As a result, the author stressed that using of regional materials indicates that the involvement of the general police in solving problems of political security led to a radical change in the entire system of law enforcement after the revolutionary events of 1917.Downloads
