Abstract

The article analyzes the changes in the state policy towards the Catholic Church in the Russian Empire during the era of Peter I. In particular, it is noted that the process of Europeanization initiated by Peter I led to the opening of Russia for other Christian denominations that began to pursue proselytizing policy in Russia.
