PROPOSALS FOR A PEACEKEEPING MISSION IN UKRAINE: DIFFERENT APPROACHES AND POLITICAL COMMUNICATIONS

Abstract

The topic of possible use of peacekeepers in the east of Ukraine has repeatedly appeared in the information space since the beginning of the conflict in 2014. In the absence of real prerequisites for reaching a consensus on this issue, the idea of peacekeeping was used mainly for information and propaganda purposes. The article analyzes different approaches and proposals on the possibility of using UN peacekeepers in the east of Ukraine from the point of view of their information impact. Western rhetoric on this issue demonstrates "a policy of post-truth", appealing to people's emotions and ignoring the facts. Russian initiatives are analyzed in the article as political communications aimed at countering hostile aspirations and achieving advantages in ensuring national interests.
