Abstract

The article discusses the dialogue between the Russian Orthodox and Anglican churches in 20-30s of the XX century. During this period, the relationship of the two churches became less close relative to the previous period of history. This was due to the revolutionary events in Russia in 1917-1918, as well as in connection with the outbreak of the Civil War and intervention, in which Great Britain took direct part. The complex of these circumstances led to the cessation of the dialogue between Orthodox and Anglicans, who for more than one century had a conversation on the recognition of Anglican ordinations. During the period of the 1920s and 1930s, Russian emigration and representatives of local Orthodox churches dealt with the issue of interaction between the Orthodox and Anglicans. Normalization of relations between the Russian Orthodox and Anglican churches continued only in 1943, when the need to develop a diplomatic dialogue between the USSR and Great Britain on the opening of a second front in Western Europe led to a meeting of representatives of Orthodox and Anglicans.
