STRUGGLE OF THE GOVERNMENT STAFF OF THE OREL PROVINCE WITH THE PEASANT MOVEMENT IN 1905 - 1907

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of measures taken by the administration of the Orel province to counter the peasant movement during the First Russian Revolution of 1905-1907. The article considers the composition and quality characteristics of the Orel Governor's army and police forces, describes the methods of influence of the provincial government on the peasantry in order to prevent peasant protests. The conclusion is substantiated that the police and troops in the territory of the Oryol province did not have sufficient number to effectively protect private landowners from peasant attacks.
