COMPETITION OF INTEGRATION PROJECTS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION AND THE EURASIAN ECONOMIC UNION IN THE CIS: STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

The article deals with the stages of development of integration processes in the post-Soviet region. The author pays special attention to the competition of variants of integration of the CIS republics formulated by the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union. The author summarizes the prerequisites and reasons for the expansion of the European Union in the post-Soviet region. It is concluded that the success of the integration project of the Eurasian economic Union will depend on the ability of Russia to consistently and effectively implement the strategy of partnership with the post-Soviet States.
