The purpose of the study is to identify the dependence of the name of an agricultural enterprise on the values and meanings of Soviet culture. The author examines the features of the names of agricultural enterprises in the Lipetsk region during the period of developed Brezhnev socialism. The author comes to the conclusion that there is a direct connection between the names of Lipetsk collective and state farms and the official Soviet discourse. The methodology involves the use of the case-stage method, which allowed us to focus on the case of the Lipetsk region. Data on Soviet farms has been recorded since the creation of the Lipetsk region. The number of Soviet farms reached its maximum by the end of the 1970s. The author also uses the method of content analysis, which allows us to find certain codes and symbols related to Soviet culture in the array of data on the names of Soviet agricultural enterprises in the Lipetsk region. Using this method, the author was able to identify the dependence of the name on Soviet ideologemes. The names of collective and state farms in the Lipetsk region also had a certain bias when they were associated with the names of prominent representatives of the Soviet party elite. As a result, the author came to the conclusion that the practice of naming Lipetsk agricultural enterprises in the USSR was dependent on the official language. The author believes that the monotony of names conceals the features of a totalitarian culture. In this way, a fairly unified semantic and symbolic space was constructed. The authorities in the USSR could use specific names as an effective tool for their own political legitimization.Downloads
